Key milestone achieved: HIP_11 22N thruster completes TRL 5

ISPTech has reached an important milestone on the path toward a new era of in-spacemobility. Together with DLR Raumfahrtantriebe, the team has successfully tested the HIP_11 22N thruster under vacuum conditions, achieving flawless ignition and operation. This advancement brings our propulsion technology to Technology Readiness Level 5 (TRL 5), moving it significantly closer to the first in-space missions.

A new approach to propulsion technology

Originally developed by ISPTech CTO and Co-Founder Felix Lauck during his PhD research at DLR, HIP_11 represents a game-changing propulsion concept. It combines:

  • Low toxicity
  • Reliability of hypergolic ignition
  • High performance comparable to conventional hypergols
  • Cost benefits of green propellants

First demonstration in vacuum

This achievement marks the first successful demonstration of a hydrogen peroxide and hypergolic ionic liquid fuel combination under vacuum conditions. It was made possible through the collaboration with DLR Raumfahrtantriebe and the dedication of the ISPTech team.
